🌱 Kindergarten has been growing with the help of Churchill United Methodist Church! 🌱
Volunteers from the church visited our classrooms to talk about seeds and what plants need to grow. Students completed a fun planter craft and even planted some grass seed—now they’re eagerly waiting for the crazy green “hair” to sprout! 😄
The best part? Our new friends from Churchill UMC will return after spring break to continue growing with us! 💚

📅 Calendar Update for Our PK–6 Building
On Thursday, May 1, and Friday, May 2, there will be NO SCHOOL for Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students. During these days, our educators in these grades will participate in professional development for a new ELA curriculum that we will implement for the 2025–2026 school year.
Meanwhile, students in Grades 3–6 will be in school and taking their state math tests on these days.
➡️ Attendance is imperative — please ensure your child is rested and ready to give their best effort!
Preschool families: There is no change to the preschool schedule — preschool classes will still be held on Thursday.
Thank you for your continued support!

All school offices will be closed on Thursday, April 24, 2025, to allow the district to complete the upgrade to our network. The Board of Education office will be open in a limited capacity from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy the rest of your spring break, Leopards!

Wait...62 degrees? Sunny? Is this for real? Then let's do it!! The DeSalvo Field ribbon-cutting ceremony will be tomorrow at 4:30, followed by the game at 5:00. Go Leopards!

🎶 Congratulations to our talented band members who performed last night with the Stambaugh Youth Concert Band — Jet Li, Alisia Haydu, Devon Grant, Annabella Duffield, Tyler Gulosh, and Levi Hauser! 👏🎺🥁
A special shoutout to senior trumpet player Devon Grant, who was featured as the senior soloist and received the prestigious Barbara Armstrong Scholarship! 🎓🎶

🎶 Our 4th graders had an awesome experience this week! Pellegrino Music and our Liberty Music Department teamed up to give students the opportunity to try out a variety of instruments—including brass, wind, percussion, and even singing! 🎺🥁🎤
This hands-on experience helped students discover their musical interests as they prepare to join the music program next school year. 🎵🎼
Thanks to Pellegrino Music and our music staff for making this possible! #LibertyLeopards #FutureMusicians #MusicMatters

Liberty Police K-9s Visit Our Youngest Learners! 🐾
On Tuesday, Liberty Police Department's K-9 officers visited our Pre-K through 2nd-grade students, bringing excitement and plenty of tail wags! Sgt. D. Rankin and his K-9 partner, LEO, along with Ptl. T. Beck and his K-9 partner, SHELBY, introduced students to the incredible work these four-legged officers do to keep our community safe.
🐕 Meet the K-9s!
LEO and SHELBY are highly trained police dogs that assist in tracking missing people, detecting items, and helping officers in their daily duties. The students learned that these K-9s are not just police partners but also beloved companions to their handlers.
🍖 What Do They Eat?
Just like human officers need to stay strong, so do their K-9 partners! LEO and SHELBY enjoy a high-protein diet specially designed for working dogs to keep them energized and ready for action.
🏡 Where Do They Go After Retirement?
A big question on the students' minds was: What happens when these hardworking dogs retire? The officers shared that after years of dedicated service, K-9s usually retire and live with their handlers, spending their golden years as family pets.
👃 How Do They Track People?
Students were amazed to learn about the K-9s' powerful sense of smell. They can pick up on tiny scent particles left behind by a person, following trails that are hours—even days—old! This skill helps officers locate missing individuals and track down suspects.
The visit was an unforgettable experience, and we are so grateful to the Liberty Police Department for sharing LEO and SHELBY with us! 🖤💙🐾

Lukas McCoy, a career specialist with Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates (JOG), has collaborated with Liberty students, staff, and families over the past year on career-focused in-school programs. These initiatives aim to equip teens and young adults in Northeast Ohio with essential job and life skills.
Last week, Lukas and several JOG-enrolled students traveled to Akron to participate in the JOG-hosted Career Development Conference. There, they competed against JOG students from other schools in career competency areas such as interview skills, decision-making, prepared speaking, financial literacy, and more.
As the school year comes to a close, JOG students will begin preparing for the CCMEP (Comprehensive Case Management and Employment) Summer Work Experience. This program provides paid work opportunities for youth aged 16 and older in various fields of interest. Participants can work up to 20 hours per week, earning a competitive wage with opportunities for additional monetary incentives.
If you’re interested in having your student participate in JOG or the summer work program, please get in touch with Lukas McCoy at 234-256-0511 or lmccoy@jogworks.org.
